What does it mean to feel alive? Step into the dreamscape of Scandalous Saturdays Burlesque, the longest-running monthly cabaret in Connecticut, at its fifth anniversary show. In this documentary short film, Scandalous producer/director Professor M and a diverse cast of performers discuss the ideas and dreams underpinning burlesque – underneath the teases and tassels – as a performance art of individual and communal expression, exploration, and authorship. Featuring live performances and behind-the-scenes interviews, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCANDALOUS travels beyond the rhinestones and glamour to showcase burlesque’s power to build a fortress of liberation and belonging.
